Dalia Abdel Kader: CIB Aims to establish a sustainable finance academy
CIB’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Dr. Dalia Abdel Kader, participates in the GFANZ panel titled “Capacity Building for Financial Institutions to Drive Climate Action in Africa” at the Africa Climate Summit Week in Nairobi, Kenya.
She commented, “African financial institutions have the power and influence to transform the climate trajectory of the region. More than ever, we need to ensure that we are reforming traditional education systems to account for the evolving nature of climate change. The finance discipline is fundamentally changing; financiers are now expected to conduct climate scenario analysis and stress testing to mitigate climate risk, decarbonize their portfolio, and report on their clients’ emissions data. It is compelling that education evolves to embrace a holistic approach that integrates finance, science, and technology.
The gap between academic curriculum and current needs of the financial industry motivated CIB to embark on establishing a Sustainable Finance Academy.”
