Dalia Abdel Qader: CIB plays an active role in mainstreaming sustainable finance
CIB took part in the prestigious Journal House events hosted by the Wall Street Journal alongside COP28 in Dubai, amongst leaders in the climate field including U.N. Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance Mr. Marc Carney and United States Special Presidential Climate Envoy for Climate Mr. John Kerry.
An interview on “Financing Africa’s Transition" was held with CIB’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Dr. Dalia Abdelkader, where she highlighted the active and progressive role CIB in mainstreaming sustainable finance and is playing in the transition towards a decarbonized and climate-resilient economy. CIB has issued the first corporate green bond in Egypt in 2021 and several green finance mitigation and adaptation products and services, in addition to innovative supporting tools for our clients. The Bank is also a Founding Signatory of the Principles of Responsible Banking (PRB) and the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), both of which emphasize the role of collaboration in aiding a wider climate transition in Africa.
